The challenge

Danfoss Drives uses a buffer area for incoming goods that arrive in various shipments throughout the day. The trucks are manually unloaded by forklifts that fill the buffer lanes.

Occupancy status of the buffer lanes needs to be monitored
AGVs need to be able to drive into the correct buffer lane and operate in a narrow environment
AGVs need to safely interact with smaller line-guided AGVs, human workers and manually driven forklifts

The solution

Implementation of four A-MATE® FreeLift to automate the pallet transport from the buffer area to the assembly cells.

A-MATE® automatically drives into the correct buffer lane, picks up the pallet and transports it to its destination, i.e. an assembly cell.
Pallet detection feature ensures, that pallets that deviate in their position are picked up correctly
Omnidirectional driving system and slim design allow movements in the tight buffer area
Integrated safety features ensure a safe interaction with all actors in the Danfoss facility
