The Challenge: Internal & External Theft
A leading US national distributor serving convenience stores, mass merchants, and chain restaurants identified recurring theft of high-value items, such as cigarettes. Losses were occurring both internally and externally, and the issue became apparent when inventory levels failed to match expected delivery quantities.
The vulnerability came from the way products were being transported: delivered and stored on open pallets, loose-loaded on truck floors, and not secured while on delivery routes. With no physical protection in place, these valuable goods were easy targets for theft.
The Solution: Security Compactainer®
The distributor required a roll container solution that was secure enough to prevent unauthorized access while also durable enough to withstand attempted tampering. In particular, the hinges and locking points needed to be resistant to tools such as hammers or crowbars.
The Security Compactainer® met these requirements perfectly. It is a nesting roll container designed to reduce manual operations, improve ergonomics, and increase space efficiency. Equipped with a fixed shelf and tight mesh, it has been specially designed for transporting valuable and heavy bulk products. Its mesh structure makes it an ideal anti-theft unit. Gravity latches and “dogbone” retainers provide security, while a split front gate allows safe loading and unloading.

The Results
Before full rollout, the distributor conducted a pilot program to test the containers in live operations. The trial confirmed that the Security Compactainer® could be seamlessly integrated into the delivery process while effectively deterring theft.
Today, one Security Compactainer® is used per truck per delivery, ensuring that every order is protected from the warehouse to the customer. Since implementation, theft has been eliminated entirely. The containers not only secure valuable products but also help maintain customer service levels by ensuring orders remain accurate and complete upon delivery.
