Topping-out ceremony for K.Hartwall’s German facility

On 27 February 2025, the topping-out wreath was raised in the new building at TIP Innovationspark Nordheide in Buchholz near Hamburg.

Our new factory will comprise approx. 3,500 m² of hall space and approx. 2,000 m² of office and social areas.

Yesterday saw the official topping-out ceremony for K.Hartwall’s new German site in Buchholz in der Nordheide. In addition to an office building, a new factory for the production of LiftLiner® tugger trains and A-MATE® automated guided vehicles and mobile robots is being built on a site area of 12,500 m².

Peper & Söhne GmbH from Bremen is the project developer for the new building and is aiming for at least the DGNB Gold certificate. ‘We are delighted that our new construction project at TIP Innovationspark Nordheide is making such good progress. Thanks in particular to the excellent cooperation with the Harburg district’s business development agency, we have been able to realise a modern and sustainable plant here for our customer K.Hartwall.’ – Christoph Peper, Managing Partner of the project developer Peper & Söhne. GOLDBECK Nord GmbH, which plans to complete the building in the third quarter of 2025, is the total transferee of the building. WLH Wirtschaftsförderung im Landkreis Harburg GmbH acted as an intermediary and advisor.

We are a solution provider for intralogistics and in addition to returnable load carriers, we also develop solutions for material flow automation in the manufacturing industry at our German site and develop & build mechatronic machines in the high-tech field of autonomous driving. This includes the LiftLiner® tugger trains and the A-MATE® mobile robots. The future market is growing by 20 %, with K.Hartwall growing disproportionately fast. The company now employs 65 people in Germany, so the premises in Heidenau have become too small. ‘The layout of the new building meets our specific requirements and enables greater operational efficiency. K.Hartwall is thus investing in the future and expansion of the company and the German site, setting the course for sustainable growth in the region and on the international market,’ adds Dr. Ralf Kleedörfer, Head of Automation at K.Hartwall GmbH in Germany. At the same time, the new building supports K.Hartwall’s sustainability goals. It is being built to the EC-40 standard and complies with the EU taxonomy. Other sustainability aspects include an air-to-water heat pump in combination with a PV system, a comprehensive e-charging infrastructure and the installation of smart meters to record consumption. Innovationspark Nordheide has already been awarded the DGNB gold pre-certificate for sustainable neighbourhoods for its own sustainability concept and is particularly conveniently located.
